Retirement is looking better and better! Jimmy Buffett recently announced the second location for Latitude Margaritaville Adult Communities — Hilton Head Island (well, the Hilton Head area to be exact). What a perfect fit! Do you think it has something to do with Bluffton’s long time slogan Bluffton is a state of mind?
Inspired by Buffett’s laid-back island lifestyle, Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head will feature more than 3,000 homes with a wide range of home designs and floor plans starting in the low $200’s. Development should begin soon with a sales center opening early-2018. Furnished models are projected to be ready by mid-2018. The amenity package includes a private, resident-only Town Center, resort-style pool, fitness center, social hall, game and hobby rooms, arts and learning programs, indoor and outdoor dining with signature food and beverage concepts, pickleball, tennis courts and more.
Jimmy Buffet’s 1977 hit Margaritaville is the theme for his Orlando-based global brand, Margaritaville Enterprises, which he founded in 2006. Margaritaville Enterprises currently includes nine destination resorts in the United States and the Caribbean, four casinos and more than 60 restaurants including Margaritaville, JWB Prime Steak & Seafood, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill and LandShark Bar & Grill. Margaritaville ‘s most recent venture, a collaboration with real estate company Minto Communities, is to build active adult communities in seaside destinations around the country. The first Latitude Margaritaville is currently under construction in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Hilton Head location will be on Highway 278, two-and-a-half miles east of I-95.
Minto Communities is a family-owned business that has grown over the last 60 years into one of North America’s leading builders, with more than 80,000 homes built including over 25,000 in Florida in 44 communities throughout the state. Minto’s award-winning homes and resort-style communities have consistently earned them national recognition and high rankings with multiple awards in community and home design.
“Our Hilton Head community will reflect the destination’s charm and personality while offering the world-class amenities that you’d expect from Margaritaville and Minto,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville. “With endless options to relax and escape, great food and drink, entertainment and an abundance of fun, every day in Latitude Margaritaville can be a new adventure.”
There is one catch to nibblin’ on sponge cake and watchin’ the sun bake — you have to be at least 55! Yes, this is an age-restricted community. However, the master plan does include a 290,000-square foot Margaritaville-inspired festive retail center that will be open to the public.
